| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James Franklin Duke Sr. of East Moline, | 4 | | who passed away on November 4, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. was born in Moline to Alvin Duke | 6 | | and Vivian LaVerne on July 2, 1926; he was a veteran of the | 7 | | United States Navy; he married Edna Pore at The New Hope | 8 | | Baptist Church in Moline in 1990; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. worked as a Keyway Supervisor at | 10 | | John Deere, Co. and retired after 32 years of service; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. enjoyed going to the fitness center | 12 | | three times a week and cutting the grass at the church; above | 13 | | all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. was preceded in death by his | 15 | | parents; his brother, Alvin; and his sister, Ruth; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. is survived by his wife, Edna; his | 17 | | sons, James F. Duke Jr. and Darin (Danielle) Duke; his | 18 | | daughter, Deborah (Morris) Palmer; his stepsons, Edgar Brown | 19 | | and Vincent (Rachel) Brown; his stepdaughters, Celnea (Arturo) | 20 | | and Cassandra Brown; and his brothers, Austin Duke and Truman |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 4 | | James Franklin Duke Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to | 5 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 6 | | further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 8 | | presented to the family of James Duke Sr. as an expression of | 9 | | our deepest sympathy.
