| 2 | | WHEREAS, On March 23, 2007, Firefighter William F. "Billy" | 3 | | Grant gave his life in the line of duty with the Chicago Fire | 4 | | Department; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, William Grant joined the Chicago Fire Department | 6 | | in 1986 at the age of 23; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Over a 20-year career, William Grant earned the | 8 | | respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters and his | 9 | | brothers on Truck 51/Engine 84; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, William Grant has been recognized for his bravery | 11 | | by the Chicago City Council, the Chicago Fire Department, and | 12 | | numerous community organizations; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, William Grant holds a patent with the U.S. Patent | 14 | | Office for one of his lifesaving ideas; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, William Grant was the beloved husband of Sharon | 16 | | (Nair) Grant; the devoted father of Kristin, Caroline, and | 17 | | Daniel; the cherished son of John F. (Ret. CFD) and Elizabeth | 18 | | (Faulkner) Grant; the dear son-in-law of Vel and JoAnn Nair; | 19 | | the loving brother of Rosemary Grant Higgins, Gayle (John)
