| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mary E. Mars of Richmond, who passed away | 4 | | on July 31, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars was born on December 30, 1942 in | 6 | | Sycamore; her parents were Arthur and Margaret Metz; she | 7 | | married Edward J. Mars on December 20, 1963 in Chicago; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars was a graduate of Richmond-Burton High | 9 | | School in 1961; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars was employed as a secretary and | 11 | | bookkeeper for the Richmond Township Highway Commissioner for | 12 | | 15 years until her retirement in 2016; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars and her husband owned and operated Mars | 14 | | Auto Rebuilders for 13 years; they also owned the Mars Space | 15 | | Center and Favorite Pastimes Antiques; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars was a member of St. Joseph Catholic | 17 | | Church in Richmond; she was also involved in several | 18 | | organizations, such as the Richmond Lions Club and the American | 19 | | Legion Auxiliary, and taught line dancing in her community; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars was preceded in death by her husband, | 2 | | Edward, and her parents; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Mary Mars is survived by her children, Cherie | 4 | | (John) Janssen and James (Kathy) Mars; her grandchildren, | 5 | | Michael (Jessica) Mars, Christopher (Bailey) Mars, and Taylor | 6 | | and Christian Janssen; and her brothers, Carl (Marilyn) Metz | 7 | | and Henry (Carol) Metz; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary E. Mars; and be | 11 | | it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Mary Mars as an expression of our | 14 | | sympathy.
