| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Cassens of Prophetstown, | 4 | | who passed away on December 5, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Cassens was born in Sterling to LeRoy "Red" | 6 | | and Lena Beck Cassens on September 2, 1926; he was educated in | 7 | | the Hume and Tampico grade schools and graduated from Tampico | 8 | | High School in 1944; after graduation, he enlisted in the | 9 | | United States Navy and served in the Pacific during World War | 10 | | II; he married Geraldine Koehler on January 8, 1945; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, In his early years. Bob Cassens worked with his | 12 | | father at Cassens' Hydraulic in Tampico; he also worked with | 13 | | Dever Construction, where he built homes in the Prophetstown | 14 | | and Tampico areas; he and Geraldine then farmed in Loraine | 15 | | Township in Henry County until their retirement; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bob Cassens served as the Loraine Township | 17 | | Supervisor and on the Henry County Board in the 1960s and | 18 | | 1970s; he was a member of the Tampico Historical Society, the | 19 | | Tampico Alumni Association, the Henry County Farm Bureau, and | 20 | | the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown; he enjoyed farming, | 21 | | working in his shop, traveling, and camping with his wife; he | 22 | | especially loved spending time with his children and |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Bob Cassens was preceded in death by his sisters, | 3 | | Marian Meyer and Beverly Berge; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Bob Cassens is survived by his wife, Geraldine; | 5 | | his son, James (Nancy) Cassens; his daughters, Vicky (Steve) | 6 | | Vandike and Susan (Randy) Skelton; his six grandchildren; and | 7 | | his six great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Robert L. "Bob" Cassens and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Bob Cassens as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
