| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to memorialize the death of
our friend and | 4 | | former colleague, Redd F. Griffin of Oak Park, who passed away | 5 | | on November 20, 2012; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin was born and raised in Oak Park; he | 7 | | earned a Bachelor of Arts from Shimer College; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin was a former reporter for the City | 9 | | News Bureau of Chicago and served on the production staff of | 10 | | WTTW 11; throughout his life, he helped to promote the | 11 | | understanding and appreciation of cultural history and | 12 | | communications through courses, lectures, readers theater, | 13 | | audiovisual and print media, exhibits, and the Internet; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin served as a professor at Triton | 15 | | College and Hines VA Hospital; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin was a founding member of the Ernest | 17 | | Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park; he served as the Foundation's | 18 | | ambassador to the Chicago area, speaking at libraries, | 19 | | fellowship groups, and meetings across the suburbs; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin served the people as the State |

| 1 | | Representative of the 21st District during the 82nd General | 2 | | Assembly; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin was a member of the boards and | 4 | | advisory boards with various organizations, including WTTW 11, | 5 | | the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park, the International | 6 | | Press Club of Chicago, and the Illinois State Historical | 7 | | Society; he also served on the board of his alma mater, Shimer | 8 | | College; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Redd Griffin was the beloved husband of Mary Jo; | 10 | | the loving father of Daniel (Sarah) and Timothy Griffin; the | 11 | | cherished grandfather of James and Reid Griffin; and the dear | 12 | | brother of Michael C. Griffin and Marnie (Joseph) Fretty; | 13 | | therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 15 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 16 | | remember, along with his family and friends, the passing of | 17 | | Redd F. Griffin; and be it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to Michael C. Griffin, the brother of Redd Griffin, | 20 | | as an expression of our sympathy.
