| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Keith Ovid Tate of Chicago, who passed | 4 | | away on December 17, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Keith Tate was born in Chicago to Elwin L. Tate | 6 | | and Ola M. Dixon on April 14, 1949; he moved with his family to | 7 | | the Chatham Neighborhood in 1955; he graduated from St. Dorothy | 8 | | School and Hales Franciscan High School; he earned a Bachelor | 9 | | of Science in Business and Administration with a concentration | 10 | | in accounting from Chicago State University; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Keith Tate spent his career working for multiple | 12 | | hospitals and healthcare groups; he worked at the University of | 13 | | Illinois Medical Center for over 25 years before his | 14 | | retirement; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Keith Tate was actively involved in the betterment | 16 | | of his community; he served as President of the Chatham-Avalon | 17 | | Community Council for many years; he also served as President | 18 | | of the Hales Franciscan Alumni Association and embodied the | 19 | | school motto, "Unto Perfect Manhood"; he was committed to his | 20 | | wife, his children, his family, and his friends; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Keith Tate was preceded in death by his parents |

| 1 | | and his wife of 40 years, Shirley A. Brown-Tate; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Keith Tate is survived by his sons, Marcus Tate | 3 | | and Rawling (Gelene) Brown; his brother, Randall (Deborah) | 4 | | Tate; his sister, Valiere (Robert) Tate-Harris; his | 5 | | grandchildren, Justin Brown and Grace Brown; his nieces, Verna | 6 | | (Marie) Turner, Kristen Tate, and Brooke Gastile; his nephews, | 7 | | Brandon (Laurice) Jones and William Samuels III; his | 8 | | great-niece, Betty (Kevin Richards) McCants; and his many other | 9 | | family members and friends; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Keith Ovid Tate and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
