1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois learned with great regret of the death of Michael A.
4 Perkins, Sr. of Peoria on Saturday, August 16, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Michael A. Perkins, Sr. was born on January 10,
6 1963 in Peoria to Howard and Aurthur Mae Rice Perkins; he
7 married his wife, Penny, on August 16, 1997 in Las Vegas; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Perkins was a detective with the Peoria
9 Police Department, where he formerly served as a community
10 liaison officer; he also served as vice president of the
11 Black Police Union; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Perkins was a United States Marine Corps
13 veteran, serving in the military police and traffic
14 management accident investigation; he was also a member of
15 the Marine Corps Reserves; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Perkins was a member of Star of Hope Full
17 Gospel Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Young
18 Adult Choir; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Michael Perkins, Sr. has been
20 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
21 wife, Penny Perkins; his parents, Howard and Aurthur Mae
22 Perkins; his son, Michael Perkins, Jr.; his daughters,
23 Brittany Perkins, Halo Perkins, and Micah Perkins; his
24 brothers, Darnell Hannah, Howard Perkins, Lloyd Perkins, and
25 Lawrence Perkins; and his sister, Nina Moore; he was preced
26 in death by one brother; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
29 of Michael Perkins, Sr. and extend our deepest sympathy to
30 his family, friends, and community; and be it further

2 presented to the family of Michael Perkins, Sr. as an
