| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Stephen H. "Steve" Bauer of Urbana, who | 4 | | passed away on November 30, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer was born in Denver, Colorado to | 6 | | Clifford and Dorothy Bauer on June 24, 1947; he married Linda | 7 | | in Greeley, Colorado in June of 1969; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer began his journalism career in 1970 | 9 | | as a writer for the Greeley (Colorado) Tribune; he moved his | 10 | | family to Urbana in 1979, where he became a reporter for the | 11 | | Champaign News-Gazette; he won Colorado and Illinois Press | 12 | | Association awards for photography and investigative | 13 | | reporting; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer retired in 2010; he loved spending | 15 | | time with his family and enjoyed writing prose and poetry, | 16 | | reading Civil War history, and collecting vintage Kodak | 17 | | cameras; his constant companions were "The Bauer dogs", Sam, | 18 | | Lilo, and Benji, who were always sitting in his lap in his | 19 | | recliner taking naps or going with him for walks during the | 20 | | day; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer was preceded in death by his parents |

| 1 | | and his sister, Donna Brotherton; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Stephen Bauer is survived by his wife, Linda | 3 | | Bauer; his daughters, Shoshanna Bauer (Michael Bohlmann), and | 4 | | Katrina (Jeremy) Tauba Fitzig; his grandchildren, Sophia | 5 | | Bauer-Macareg, and Yosef, Hana, and Eda Fitzig; his brother, | 6 | | Randy Bauer; his nephews, Nathan and Matthew Bauer; his | 7 | | grandnephew, Noah; and his grandniece, Emi; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Stephen H. "Steve" Bauer, and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Stephen Bauer as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
