| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kimberly Joy "Kim" Barnes of Canton, who | 4 | | passed away on March 17, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kim Barnes was born in Galesburg to Carolyn K. | 6 | | Stevens and Gale (Gloria) Schisler on October 2, 1958; she | 7 | | graduated from Spoon River Valley High School in 1976; she | 8 | | loved to learn; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Kim Barnes owned and operated the Fairview Cafe | 10 | | for over 20 years; she loved seeing familiar, smiling faces | 11 | | every day; prior to that, she held various jobs; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Kim Barnes was a Gold Star Mother and an Honorary | 13 | | Member of the Fairview American Legion Auxiliary for her | 14 | | volunteer services; she participated in the Rolling Thunder | 15 | | ride to Washington, D.C. and also attended the Native American | 16 | | Veteran's Pow Wow every year she was able; she was an avid | 17 | | supporter of veterans and fought to keep them safe upon their | 18 | | return home; she was the first to volunteer when needed and was | 19 | | known for donating her delicious pies; she was a fan of the | 20 | | Rolling Stones and loved rock-n-roll music, animals, and | 21 | | horseback riding; she always carried a book and encouraged | 22 | | others to read; she loved and cherished her grandchildren and |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Kim Barnes was preceded in death by her son, PFC | 3 | | Aaron Barnes; and her sister, Jill Sherwood; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Kim Barnes is survived by her parents; her son, | 5 | | Corey Barnes; her daughter-in-law, Mandy Davis; her brother, | 6 | | Kurt Schisler; her grandchildren, Melody Barnes and Emmalynne | 7 | | and David Barnes; and Laura Ramage, whom she loved like a | 8 | | daughter; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Kimberly Joy "Kim" Barnes and extend our sincere condolences to | 12 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
