| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William "Bill" Edwin Palmatier of Peoria, | 4 | | who passed away on March 14, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Palmatier was born on July 17, 1943, in | 6 | | LaSalle-Peru to William Palmatier, the long-time mayor of | 7 | | Peoria, and Marion Hoelle Palmatier; he attended Horace Mann in | 8 | | Gary, Indiana, and Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago; he | 9 | | graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1961 and married | 10 | | Janice Glupczynski in Peru on August 27, 1966; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, William Palmatier worked for Bauer Buick while | 12 | | attending Bradley University, graduating with a business | 13 | | degree in accounting in 1967; he worked for Illinois Mutual | 14 | | Life Insurance Company for over 39 years as the executive | 15 | | vice-president and controller, retiring in December 2009; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, William Palmatier's commitment to his community | 17 | | saw him serve on the boards for Bank Plus, Junior Achievement, | 18 | | Lakeview Museum, Community Leadership School, the Boy Scouts of | 19 | | America, and the Illinois Mutual Board of Directors; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, William Palmatier was a lifelong parishioner of | 21 | | St. Vincent de Paul Parish, a member of the Creve Coeur Club, |

| 1 | | and Mt. Hawley Country Club of Peoria; he was a racing fan and | 2 | | attended The Skip Barber and Richard Petty Racing Schools; he | 3 | | rode in the pace car with 4-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser, Sr. | 4 | | and fulfilled his dream of driving an actual IndyCar at the | 5 | | Indianapolis Motor Speedway; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, William Palmatier is survived by his wife of 46 | 7 | | years, Janice; his children, Suzie Palmatier Babovac (Anthony) | 8 | | and Molly Palmatier Tittle (Scott); his grandchildren, Lindsey | 9 | | and Lexi Babovac and Holyn and William ("Will") Tittle; and his | 10 | | sister, Barbara Mast (George); therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | William Palmatier, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
