1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of M. W. "Bud"
4 Meyer of Aurora on July 6, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Meyer was born on February 1, 1923, in
6 Aurora the son of the late William F. and Lena (Einsiedel)
7 Meyer; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Meyer served in the United States Army Coast
9 Defense Command during World War II; after returning home to
10 Aurora, he married the late Wanda (Hammond) Meyer on May 20,
11 1944; he co-founded the plumbing supply firm of William F.
12 Meyer Company where he served as president until 1987; his
13 extensive community involvement includes 12 years of service
14 on the Aurora Planning Commission and service on the Aurora
15 Riverwalk Commission; he was twice past president of the
16 Aurora Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Aurora
17 Little League, past national president of the American Supply
18 Association, and was active in many other organizations and
19 associations; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Meyer was the recipient of the Aurora
21 Chamber of Commerce's highest award, the Albert M. Hirsch
22 Award; he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters
23 from Aurora University, and was the past Grand Marshall in
24 the Aurora 4th of July parade; and
25 WHEREAS, After his wife Wanda's death in 1999, he married
26 Jean (Roesch) Seifrid on January 1, 2001; he was the current
27 chairman of the Aurora Civic Center Authority and Paramount
28 Arts Centre, as well as, Chairman of the Provena Mercy
29 Hospital Foundation where he was also on the Board of
30 Directors; for his service on the North Island Centre
31 Authority Board, the ballroom at the North Island Centre was
32 named in his honor; and

1 WHEREAS, Mr. Meyer was a lifetime member of St. Pauls
2 Lutheran Church, where he served in various roles, including
3 Chairman of the Congregation and served on the Building
4 Committee for the church's Orchard campus; he was also a
5 member of the Rotary Club and the Aurora Country Club; and
6 WHEREAS, The passing of M. W. "Bud" Meyer will be deeply
7 felt by many, especially his wife, Jean Seifrid Meyer; his
8 two sons, William "Bill" (Carol) Meyer and John "Jack"
9 (Sonja) Meyer; his six grandsons, Michael, Christopher, Adam,
10 Daniel, Timothy, and Zachary Meyer; his stepchildren, Richard
11 (Ann Marie) Seifrid, Nancy (Earl) Bowers, Janice (Craig)
12 Pittman, and David (Lisa) Seifrid; his stepgrandchildren,
13 Leah (Jeremy) Legg, Kate and Paige Seifrid, Kyle and Bryan
14 Pittman, and Kevin and Hannah Seifrid; and several
15 sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews; and
16 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
17 first wife, Wanda (Hammond) Meyer; and his sister Gretchen
18 Kieso Glessner; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
21 M. W. "Bud" Meyer along with all who knew and loved him and
22 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
23 be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the family of M. W. "Bud" Meyer as an expression
26 of our deepest sympathy.
