1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate learned with regret of
3 the death of Richard J. "Dick" Michelini of Montgomery on
4 Monday, October 13, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Michelini was born on January 9, 1931, in
6 LaSalle to Louis and Margaret (Rinaudo) Michelini; in the
7 1940s, he worked in his father's business, the Earlville
8 Bowling Alley, setting up bowling pins for customers; he
9 later attended Kemper Military Academy in 1946 and 1947 and
10 graduated from Earlville High School in 1948; he married his
11 high school sweetheart, Marilyn Boozel a year later; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Michelini graduated from Colorado State
13 University in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in Science; he
14 served in the U.S. Army as a first and second lieutenant for
15 two years; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Michelini began his career with the Armour
17 Dial Corporation and the Virginia Smelting Company before
18 joining Ciba-Geigy in 1959 as a Regional Sales Manager, where
19 he worked for 33 years until his retirement in 1992; after
20 retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many good years of travel
21 throughout the country and a trip to Europe; and
22 WHEREAS, Mr. Michelini was dedicated to his community,
23 having served on the Montgomery Village Board from 1965
24 through 1973 and as the Aurora Township Democratic Chairman;
25 during his tenure on the Village Board, Mr. Michelini was
26 instrumental in the remodeling of the new village hall in a
27 way that fit the Village's needs; and
28 WHEREAS, Mr. Michelini valued his family; he enjoyed
29 camping, fishing, and traveling with them to such places as
30 the New York and Quebec World Fairs and to Canada on fishing
31 expeditions; and

1 WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Michelini has been deeply
2 felt by many, especially his wife, Marilyn, Village President
3 of Montgomery; his children, Richard Thomas (Mary) Michelini,
4 Marie Lynne Michelini-O'Brien, Mark (Debbie) Michelini, Lisa
5 (Joe) Michelini-Kocot, and Christina Michelini; his
6 grandchildren, Mark Michelini, Nathan Michelini, Thomas
7 Michelini, Stephen Michelini, Jessica Michelini, Dominic
8 Michelini, Caroline Kocot, Clarice Kocot, and Mary
9 Michelini-O'Brien; his sisters-in-law, Doris Inness and Carol
10 (Dave) Frey; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins;
11 therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our deepest
14 sympathy to the family of Richard J. "Dick" Michelini; and be
15 it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Mr. Michelini as an expression of
18 our sincere condolences.
