| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Ida Jones Martin of | 4 |
| Chicago on June 16, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Martin was born in St. Joseph, Louisiana, to | 6 |
| Walter and Polly Reed on August 26, 1910, and educated in the | 7 |
| Louisiana Public Schools; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, She married Reverend R.J. Jones in St. Joseph, | 9 |
| Louisiana, on February 11, 1928; in 1942, they moved to Pine | 10 |
| Bluff, Arkansas, where she began working at Pine Bluff Arsenal; | 11 |
| Rev. Jones preceded her in death in 1978; she married Reverend | 12 |
| Elijah Martin in June of 1988 and he preceded her in death in | 13 |
| 1998; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She was a member of the Sisters of Charity and | 15 |
| formerly a member of New Zion M.B. Church; she joined Gospel | 16 |
| Temple Baptist Church where she served as a mother of the | 17 |
| church and a supporter of all church auxiliaries; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Ida Jones Martin is felt by all who | 19 |
| knew and loved her, especially her daughters, Reanetta Hunt, | 20 |
| Delois Lee, and Linda Jones (Jared) Kindle; her son, Gregory | 21 |
| Lee (Carolyn) Jones; her grandchildren, Christopher Craft, | 22 |
| Daphne Anita Lancaster, Angela Levita Arnold, and Jackie Lee | 23 |
| (Demone) Evans; and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, | 24 |
| nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends; therefore, be | 25 |
| it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 27 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 28 |
| Ida Jones Martin and extend our sincerest condolences to her | 29 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
