| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Amina J. Dickerson | 4 |
| on the occasion of her retirement as senior director of global | 5 |
| community involvement for Kraft Foods; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Amina Dickerson earned her master's degree in arts | 7 |
| management from the American University in Washington, D.C. and | 8 |
| was named to the university's Alumni Hall of Fame in 2005; she | 9 |
| studied theater arts at Emerson College and holds a certificate | 10 |
| from the Harvard University program in Arts Administration; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Amina Dickerson began her career with Kraft Foods | 12 |
| in 1997 as Director of Corporate Contributions; during her | 13 |
| tenure with the company, she led Kraft Foods' philanthropic | 14 |
| activities through many changes; as director, she launched the | 15 |
| Kraft Community Nutrition Program, a program that has provided | 16 |
| more than one billion servings of fresh fruit and vegetables | 17 |
| and has helped move produce to the #1 category of food | 18 |
| distributed by Feeding America; she also oversaw the creation | 19 |
| of Salsa, Sabor y Salud, a healthy lifestyles program that | 20 |
| teaches nutrition and fitness education to the Latino | 21 |
| community; and

| Dickerson held senior appointments for the Chicago Historical | 2 |
| Society, the DuSable Museum of African American History, the | 3 |
| Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum of Philadelphia, | 4 |
| and the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African | 5 |
| Art, as well as numerous boards, panels, and consultancies; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Amina Dickerson currently serves as a board member | 7 |
| of the Harris Center for Music and Dance at Millennium Park and | 8 |
| as co-chair of the Peer Network for International Giving of the | 9 |
| Donor's Forum of Chicago; and | 10 |
| WHEREAS, Amina Dickerson has been widely acknowledged for | 11 |
| her work in promoting fitness and healthy eating; she was | 12 |
| commended for her role as Vice Chair for the International | 13 |
| Committee for the Council of Foundations; she was honored as a | 14 |
| Chicagoan of the Year by the Chicago Tribune in 2005 for the | 15 |
| partnership to advance jazz that she helped to initiate; she | 16 |
| was also named one of 25 leading African American Women in | 17 |
| Business by the Network Journal; and

| WHEREAS, In 1996, Amina Dickerson served as a Distinguished | 19 |
| Visitor with the MacArthur Foundation and was appointed a Class | 20 |
| XVI Kellogg Fellow; in 2002, she was named Chicago's | 21 |
| Professional Grantor of the Year; in 2004, she received the | 22 |
| 10th Annual Sor Juana Award from the Mexican Fine Arts Center | 23 |
| Museum and a legacy award from eta Creative Arts Theater; she |

| was the recipient of the Timuel Black Award for Community | 2 |
| Service from the Jazz Institute of Chicago in 2006; and
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Through Amina Dickerson's inspired leadership, | 4 |
| Kraft Foods' Corporate Community Involvement program have | 5 |
| become well known for its high quality philanthropy and its | 6 |
| willingness to support the community through strong | 7 |
| partnerships and commitment to quality; therefore, be it
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 10 |
| congratulate Amina Dickerson on the occasion of her retirement | 11 |
| and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | 12 |
| further
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 |
| presented to Amina Dickerson as a symbol of our esteem and | 15 |
| respect.
