1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives congratulate Craig S. Burkhardt, who is
4 leaving the Springfield law firm of Sorling, Northrup, Hanna,
5 Cullen, and Cochran, Ltd. to accept the position of Chief
6 Counsel, United States Technology Administration, U.S.
7 Department of Commerce; he will be relocating to Washington,
8 D.C.; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Burkhardt is currently serving his 19th year
10 as an attorney with the firm, having joined in 1984
11 immediately after graduating from law school; it is a
12 33-attorney law firm and provides a broad array of legal and
13 lobbying services to individuals, businesses, and
14 not-for-profit organizations and government entities; he has
15 concentrated his legal practice in public utilities, election
16 law, and government relations; and
17 WHEREAS, While serving as an attorney at Sorling, his
18 positions have included General Counsel of the Illinois
19 Republican Party; from 1988 to 1992, he served as counsel to
20 the Republican Leader of the Illinois House of
21 Representatives; and he served as General Counsel of the
22 Illinois Republican County Chairmen's Association, and
23 President of the Republican National Lawyers Association;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Craig S. Burkhardt on his new position as
28 Chief Counsel, United States Technology Administration for
29 the U.S. Department of Commerce and thank him for all his
30 distinguished and dedicated service to the Illinois
31 Republican Party; we wish him good health and happiness in
32 all of his future endeavors; and be it further
