| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Alex Marx on the | 4 |
| occasion of his retirement after 36 years of service to the | 5 |
| residents of the Mundelein Parks and Recreation District; and | 6 |
| WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Alex Marx, the Mundelein | 7 |
| Parks and Recreation District has grown from a 14-acre, one | 8 |
| building district into a thriving park district with 33 sites | 9 |
| and more than 725 acres of land; and | 10 |
| WHEREAS, He has helped the district develop an 18-hole | 11 |
| top-rated golf course; community and neighborhood parks; a | 12 |
| historical preservation museum; cooperative school and park | 13 |
| facilities and land; child care and preschool facilities; | 14 |
| senior, community and fitness centers; a dance studio; an | 15 |
| indoor pool; a boat and lakefront facility; a skate park; an | 16 |
| aquatic spray park; sports fields; tennis and basketball | 17 |
| courts; a 9-hole disc golf course; and a 7-acre
outdoor aquatic | 18 |
| center; and | 19 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Marx, Director of the Mundelein Parks and | 20 |
| Recreation District, is a spirited advocate of board member | 21 |
| education and inspires his board members to participate on | 22 |
| Illinois Association of Park Districts' (IAPD) boards and |

| committees; he is a founding member of the Lake County and | 2 |
| Mundelein After School Coalitions and continues to work toward | 3 |
| recreational opportunities for the youth in the area; and | 4 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Marx has demonstrated his commitment to the | 5 |
| community as a member of the Mundelein Community Day | 6 |
| Commission, Mundelein-Vernon Hills Rotary Club, Mundelein | 7 |
| Historical Society, Mundelein Economic Development Committee, | 8 |
| American Legion, and Project C.A.P.E. (Creating a Positive | 9 |
| Environment); and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Marx was presented with the IAPD's "Honored | 11 |
| Professional" award at the organization's annual conference in | 12 |
| January 2006 held in Chicago; this award recognizes | 13 |
| professionals in the field of parks and recreation who have | 14 |
| demonstrated remarkable talents in encouraging board members | 15 |
| to excel as citizen advocates in advancing the field of parks | 16 |
| and recreation, who believe in the IAPD mission and have a | 17 |
| history of supporting its endeavors; and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Marx and his wife, Georgeanne, have been | 19 |
| married for over 39 years and have four daughters and three | 20 |
| grandchildren; he is also a founding member of the New Greek | 21 |
| Orthodox Church (Ascension) where he serves as Stewardship | 22 |
| chairperson and on the Board of Directors; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 2 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 3 |
| congratulate Alex Marx on the occasion of his retirement after | 4 |
| over 36 years of service to the residents of the Mundelein | 5 |
| Parks and Recreation District; and be it further
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 |
| presented to him as an expression of our deep gratitude and | 8 |
| with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
