| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Marcel C. Durot, who passed away on | 4 | | October 7, 2020 at the age of 91; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot was born in Boston, Massachusetts on | 6 | | September 8, 1929; he was raised in Waban, Massachusetts; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot earned a bachelor's degree from | 8 | | Dartmouth College, a Master of Business Administration from | 9 | | the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, and a Juris | 10 | | Doctor degree from Boston College Law School; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot served active duty in the Navy for | 12 | | two years aboard the USS Hopper Island; afterward, he began | 13 | | working for the Gillette Safety Razor Company; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot's career at Gillette spanned | 15 | | multiple subsidiaries and countries; his titles included | 16 | | controller treasurer, president-director general, corporate | 17 | | vice president, and president; at the Paper Mate Company, he | 18 | | helped drive the success of the Flair Pen; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot left Gillette in 1977, spent three | 20 | | years working with Mattel, and then joined G.D. Searle & |

| 1 | | Company in Chicago, where he became part of the launch of Equal | 2 | | tabletop sweetener; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot started his own international | 4 | | consulting business in 1985; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot was a member of the Young Presidents | 6 | | Organization and president of the National Paraplegia | 7 | | Foundation; in 1980, he helped successfully lobby the United | 8 | | Nations to declare 1981 as the Year of Disabled Persons; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot served on the boards of the | 10 | | Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, the Minnesota Outward | 11 | | Bound School, and the National Outward Bound organization; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Marcel Durot is survived by his wife, Charlotte | 13 | | Ann Durot; his children, G. Georges Durot II (Ann), Jennifer | 14 | | C. Durot, Michael M. Durot (Anne), Robert C. Durot (Kamy), and | 15 | | Andrew Durot; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two | 16 | | stepdaughters, Paige Soule (Ed Varga) and Christa Desir | 17 | | (Julio); and five step-grandchildren; therefore, be it
