| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Robert H. Brady of Wilmette, who passed | 4 |
| away on January 5, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Brady was a lifelong resident of Wilmette | 6 |
| and a graduate of New Trier High School; he served his country | 7 |
| with pride and distinction as a member of the Army Corps of | 8 |
| Engineers during World War II; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Army, Robert Brady | 10 |
| bought a car, converted it into a taxi cab, and began driving | 11 |
| for the 303 Cab Company; he then worked for the Wilmette Public | 12 |
| Works Department for a few years before becoming a probationary | 13 |
| firefighter for the Wilmette Fire Department in 1952; in 1954, | 14 |
| he married his beloved wife, Mary; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, In 1976, Robert Brady was picked to serve as the | 16 |
| Wilmette Fire Department's fourth fire chief, a position he | 17 |
| remained in until his retirement in 1987; during his tenure, he | 18 |
| began the department's paramedic program, one of the first in | 19 |
| the area; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Wilmette Fire | 21 |
| Department, Robert Brady worked as a crossing guard at Skokie |

| Boulevard and Wilmette Avenue until 1999, completing 50 years | 2 |
| of employment with the Village of Wilmette; and
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Brady is survived by his wife, Mary; his | 4 |
| daughter, Ellyn Warner; his sister, Jean Caselli; and his | 5 |
| granddaughter; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Robert H. Brady; and be | 9 |
| it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Robert Brady as an expression of our | 12 |
| sympathy.
