1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Lynn Frances Hirsch was born on December 10,
3 1949 with a severe health condition; her mother, Diane
4 Hirsch, took her to the Mayo Clinic only to receive the
5 devastating news that her daughter would not live past the
6 age of 13; and
7 WHEREAS, With great optimism, courage and determination,
8 Lynn was blessed with 37 more years; throughout her 50 years
9 of life, she remained a kind, caring, thoughtful, and
10 courageous person, never letting her health problems take
11 over her life; and
12 WHEREAS, Lynn Hirsch would routinely cross the Lincoln
13 Avenue Bridge in Chicago on her way to her doctor
14 appointments, however, each time she crossed the bridge she
15 would experience excruciating pain in her back due to the
16 rough surface of the roadway; it was her dream to see a new
17 bridge built, but unfortunately she passed away before its
18 completion; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
21 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we urge the Illinois
22 Department of Transportation and the City of Chicago to
23 erect, at suitable locations consistent with State and
24 Federal Regulations, a plaque on the Lincoln Avenue Bridge in
25 Chicago in the memory of Lynn Frances Hirsch in recognition
26 of her never-ending courage, optimism and human spirit that
27 she displayed during her life despite her medical condition;
28 and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
30 presented to Diane Hirsch, the City of Chicago, and the
31 Secretary of Transportation.
