| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Airsman-Hires Funeral | 4 | | Homes on the occasion of celebrating 50 years of business; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The company that became Airsman-Hires Funeral | 6 | | Homes was started by Terry and Mary Beth Airsman after they | 7 | | purchased the original Wolfe-Airsman Funeral Home in Roodhouse | 8 | | and the Dawdy-Wolf-Airsman Funeral Home in White Hall, both | 9 | | located in Greene County, in the 1970s; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Meanwhile, the Hires Funeral Home was owned and | 11 | | operated by Jess and Niela Hires in Carrollton, also located | 12 | | in Greene County; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Airsman-Hires Funeral Homes was formed by Terry | 14 | | Airsman and Jess Hires in order to minimize costs and improve | 15 | | efficiency on March 1, 1979; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1980, Terry Airsman and Jess Hires proceeded | 17 | | to buy the former Mehl Funeral Home in Carrollton, the Neece | 18 | | Funeral Homes in Franklin and Waverly, and the Stults-Neece | 19 | | Funeral Home in Palmyra; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, In 1981, Airsman-Hires Funeral Homes purchased |

| 1 | | the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville from Harlan | 2 | | Williamson, and the Airsman family moved to Jacksonville to | 3 | | operate it; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Airsman-Hires Funeral Homes additionally expanded | 5 | | to include the Skinner Funeral Home in Griggsville in 1986, | 6 | | the Lummis Funeral Home in Pittsfield in 1993, the Coonrod | 7 | | Funeral Home in Winchester in 1994, and the Sager Funeral Home | 8 | | in Beardstown in 2007; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, While Jess Hires retired in 1992, Airsman-Hires | 10 | | Funeral Homes remains family-owned and operated today under | 11 | | the guidance of Terry and Mary Beth Airsman and their daughter | 12 | | and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Greg May, with Denton Coonrod | 13 | | and Wyatt and Trisha Sager still providing funeral service in | 14 | | their respective communities; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 16 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 17 | | we congratulate Airsman-Hires Funeral Homes on celebrating 50 | 18 | | years of business, and we wish the company continued success | 19 | | in the years to come; and be it further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That we congratulate the Airsman and Hires | 21 | | families for their company's remarkable growth and ongoing | 22 | | legacy; and be it further
