| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William J. Larson of Batavia, formerly of | 4 | | Joliet, who passed away August 1, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Benton; he was a resident of Joliet | 6 | | for 75 years before moving to Batavia; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, He was highly educated; he attended Joliet Public | 8 | | Schools and graduated with the Joliet Township High School | 9 | | Class of 1941; he graduated from the Illinois Institute of | 10 | | Technology; he attended the University of Nebraska, the | 11 | | University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and the | 12 | | University of Chicago; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He worked for more than 65 years to protect | 14 | | people, property, and the environment, joining the American | 15 | | Society of Safety Engineers on May 1, 1946; he belonged to the | 16 | | Three Rivers Chapter of the American Society of Safety | 17 | | Engineers; and he retired in 1987 from the Argonne National | 18 | | Laboratory as a Safety Engineering Supervisor; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, He earned the Professional Engineer designation; | 20 | | he received professional recognition from the National Safety | 21 | | Council; and he received the 1991-92 Charles V. Culbertson |

| 1 | | Outstanding Volunteer Service Award from the American Society | 2 | | of Safety Engineers; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church | 4 | | of Batavia, and a charter member of the Covenant Church of the | 5 | | Good Shepherd; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Thure and | 7 | | Ruth (nee, Anderson) Larson; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, William Larson is survived by his loving wife of | 9 | | 66 years, Ruth V. (nee, Cannon) Larson; his son, John P. | 10 | | Larson; his daughter, Barbara (Paul) Green; his 4 | 11 | | grandchildren; his 10 great-grandchildren; his | 12 | | great-great-grandson; his sister, Mary Lou (Reverend Robert) | 13 | | Liljegren; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 16 | | his family and friends, the passing of William Larson; and be | 17 | | it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of William Larson as a symbol of our | 20 | | sincere sympathy.
