| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edward | 4 | | Jordan, who passed away on March 1, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan was born on April 3, 1923 in | 6 | | Shuqualak, Mississippi; his parents were Channie (nee Ivy) | 7 | | Jordan and Edmond Jordan; he married Alma (nee Johnson) Jordan | 8 | | on July 13, 1936; she preceded him in death on March 18, 1998; | 9 | | he married Mildred Jordan on June 30, 2001; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan found the Lord at an early age and | 11 | | became a faithful member of Bethal A.M.E. church in Murphysboro | 12 | | until its closing; he later joined and became a faithful member | 13 | | of Bethal A.M.E. Church in Carbondale until his passing; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan was employed by the Gulf, Mobile, | 15 | | and Ohio Railroad for 32 years until his retirement in February | 16 | | of 1975; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan was an avid fisherman and was famous | 18 | | for his homemade jelly; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan was a founding member of the Gospel | 20 | | Quartet Spiritual Travelers of Carbondale; he dedicated over 50 |

| 1 | | years of his life singing praises for the Lord with the | 2 | | Spiritual Travelers; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan was preceded in death by his first | 4 | | wife and 2 sons, Peter (Harriet) Jordan and Edward (Joyce) | 5 | | Jordan, Jr.; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jordan is survived by his wife, Mildred; 2 | 7 | | sons, Leroy (Johnetta) Jordan and Melvin (Martha) Jordan; 2 | 8 | | daughters, Margaret (Leon) Griffin and Linda Jordan; a brother, | 9 | | Joseph Jordan; a sister, Gracie (Roland) Byrd; his many nieces, | 10 | | nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and one | 11 | | great-great-grandchild; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 13 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | 15 | | Edward Jordan; and be it further
