| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Marvin D. Spohn of East Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on July 2, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Spohn was born to Martin and Rosa | 6 | | (Willard) Spohn in Miami, Oklahoma on October 6, 1930; he was | 7 | | born and raised on the family farm during the depression in | 8 | | Oklahoma and learned the welding trade at the age of 12 from | 9 | | working in his father's shop; he served in the United States | 10 | | Army during the Korean War and in the reserves following the | 11 | | war; he married Elsie L. Scoles in Miami, Oklahoma on July 8, | 12 | | 1950; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Early in his life, Marvin Spohn worked in the | 14 | | zinc mines in Pitcher, Oklahoma; he and his wife owned and | 15 | | operated a drive-in restaurant in Baxter Springs, Kansas; he | 16 | | worked at International Harvester for 28 years and was on the | 17 | | Board of Directors at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union for | 18 | | 38 years; he owned and operated Spohn Welding in East Moline; | 19 | | he finished his working career as owner of Spohn Ground and | 20 | | Maintenance, maintaining the IH Credit Unions throughout the | 21 | | Quad Cities; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Spohn was formerly a member of New Life, |

| 1 | | Moline as well as Moline Gospel Temple; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Spohn was a devoted husband, beloved | 3 | | father, grandfather, and friend; he was a man of faith who | 4 | | loved his community; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Spohn was preceded in death by his | 6 | | parents; his four sisters; and his four brothers; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Spohn is survived by his wife; Stephen | 8 | | (Nancy) Spohn; his grandson, Erik Spohn; his granddaughter, | 9 | | Heidi Spohn; and his special friends, Darryl and Meryl Knole; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Marvin D. Spohn and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Marvin Spohn as an expression of our | 18 | | deepest sympathy.
