| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Gerald Dwayne Green of Beach Park, who | 4 |
| passed away on December 27, 2006; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Gerald Dwayne Green was born September 18, 1961; | 6 |
| his parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Green; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Gerald Green was beloved by generations of | 8 |
| Waukegan students whose lives he touched as a District | 9 |
| Administrator and as "Coach Green" in the Athletic Department's | 10 |
| football, and track and field teams;
Gerald Green graduated | 11 |
| from Waukegan West High School in 1979, having attained elite | 12 |
| status as an All-American athlete in both football and in track | 13 |
| and field; he was listed as an outstanding high school student | 14 |
| in the Streets & Smith Who's Who for high school athletes; he | 15 |
| also held the State of Illinois record for high school shot-put | 16 |
| distance;
and | 17 |
| WHEREAS, After his graduation, Gerald attended the | 18 |
| University of Wisconsin at Madison on a Football Scholarship, | 19 |
| and gained recognition as a Division I fullback; upon leaving | 20 |
| the University of Wisconsin, Gerald furthered his football | 21 |
| career with teams in the National Football League, the Canadian | 22 |
| Football League, and the United States Football League, before |

| returning to his roots in Waukegan; and
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Gerald Green dedicated his post-football career | 3 |
| to the betterment of Waukegan school students; "Coach Green" | 4 |
| will be sadly missed by the many current and former students he | 5 |
| left behind; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS,
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth | 7 |
| Green; and his grandparents, Earnest Green and Arvella Thomas; | 8 |
| and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The death of Gerald Green is deeply felt by his | 10 |
| wife, Melissa, and his young children, Payton and Savannah; his | 11 |
| father, Thomas Green; his brothers, Jeffrey (Charita), and | 12 |
| Thomas; his nephew Corey; and his nieces, Chrishelda and | 13 |
| Carnese; therefore, be it
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 15 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 16 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Gerald Green; and be it | 17 |
| further
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 |
| presented to the family of Gerald Green as a symbol of our | 20 |
| sympathy.
