1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois wish to congratulate the volunteers and
4 coordinators of the Clinton County Relay for Life; and
5 WHEREAS, The Clinton County Relay for Life is an annual
6 fundraiser for the American Cancer Society; this year, the
7 relay was held in two locations, Mt. Vernon and Centralia;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Each year, the Relay for Life consists of teams
10 which commit to having one member walk the track during the
11 entire event; the opening lap at each relay is traditionally
12 known as the Survivor's Lap, which is walked by cancer
13 survivors; and
14 WHEREAS, Sherry Meadows served as the Chairman for the
15 Mt. Vernon relay, and the Co-Chairmen for the Centralia relay
16 were Melynda Wesling, Vicky Vaughn, LynAnn Pigg, and Jamie
17 Elmore; in previous years, Kim McMillan worked extensively on
18 the Centralia Relay for Life; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we congratulate Sherry Meadows, Melynda Wesling, Vicky
22 Vaughn, LynAnn Pigg, Jamie Elmore, and Kim McMillan for their
23 extensive work in support of the Clinton County Relay for
24 Life annual event; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That we extend our heartiest thanks to the
26 volunteers, victims, and cancer survivors for their work on
27 behalf of cancer research and awareness; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to each of the Chairmen listed above as an
30 expression of our sincere gratitude and respect.
