| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Shirley Grove-Valevicius of Bolingbrook, | 4 | | who passed away on May 7, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius was born to Edgar E. and | 6 | | Alice J. (Turek) Grove on May 4, 1937; she graduated from Oak | 7 | | Park River Forest High School in 1955; she returned to school | 8 | | while in her 60s and graduated from Lewis University, where she | 9 | | was named a Scholar of the University in 2002 and received | 10 | | multiple degrees, including her Master of Arts in | 11 | | Organizational Leadership in 2004; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Inspired by her father's public service, Shirley | 13 | | Grove-Valevicius resigned from her role as an administrator at | 14 | | Commonwealth Edison for a career in local politics in | 15 | | Bolingbrook; she served as an election judge, precinct captain, | 16 | | and committeewoman; she was elected as the DuPage Township | 17 | | Collector on November 2, 2010; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius was an active member of | 19 | | the Bolingbrook Arts Council, the Bolingbrook Chamber of | 20 | | Commerce, the Lewis University Alumni Board, and the Daughters | 21 | | of the American Revolution; she had a great love for the | 22 | | environment, dogs, horses, and wildlife; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius was preceded in death by | 2 | | her former husband, Anton G. Valevicius; her parents; and her | 3 | | brother, Edgar Grove Jr.; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius is survived by her | 5 | | daughter, Cheryl Barrett; her son, Tony Valevicius; and her | 6 | | grandchildren, Ryan Barrett and Alec Barrett; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Shirley Grove-Valevicius and extend our sincere condolences to | 10 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Shirley Grove-Valevicius as an | 14 | | expression of our deepest sympathy.
