| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Wilbert L. Owens of Moline, who passed | 4 | | away on July 16, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Owens was born in Moline to William and | 6 | | Anna (Johnson) Owens on November 18, 1927; he served in the | 7 | | U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Jane Busenbark on | 8 | | October 20, 1951; they lived in the Village of Cleveland for | 9 | | many years, where they raised their five children; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Owens worked as a welder for John Deere | 11 | | for 23 years until he retired in 1989; he also served as a | 12 | | trustee for the Village of Cleveland; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Owens was a member of Saint Patrick's | 14 | | Catholic Church in Colona, where he was an active member of the | 15 | | Holy Name Society; he was an avid bowler, hunter, and golfer; | 16 | | he was very proud of his four holes-in-one golfing | 17 | | achievement; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Owens was a loving husband, father, and | 19 | | grandfather; he will be missed; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Owens was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his son, Steven Owens; his siblings, Dick Owens, | 2 | | Denny Owens, Jerry Owens, and Sally (Owens) Krol; and his | 3 | | daughter-in-law, Dennise Owens; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Wilbert Owens is survived by his wife, Jane; his | 5 | | daughters, Carol Lidholm, Diane (Jeff) Frank, Mary Beth (Mike) | 6 | | Slonecker, and Betty (Greg) Wadsworth; his 11 grandchildren; | 7 | | his nine great-grandchildren; and his several nieces and | 8 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Wilbert L. Owens and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Wilbert Owens as an expression of | 16 | | our deepest sympathy.
