| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Larry's House of Cakes of | 4 | | Marion on the occasion of its six decades of serving the | 5 | | community with delectable desserts; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes was opened by Larry | 7 | | Clayton in May 1963; the shop initially served doughnuts | 8 | | before offering birthday cakes, which became the shop's most | 9 | | popular item; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Today, Larry's House of Cakes is under the | 11 | | leadership of Larry Clayton's sons, Neil, David, and Dale, and | 12 | | offers a vast assortment of pastries and baked goods, | 13 | | including brownies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and chocolate | 14 | | covered bacon; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes has become especially | 16 | | renowned for its pink cookies, which are popular with | 17 | | everyone, from the casual foodie to the dessert connoisseur; | 18 | | and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes has remained a | 20 | | family-owned and operated business for the past 60 years, an | 21 | | accomplishment rarely achieved; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 2 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 3 | | we congratulate Larry's House of Cakes on its 60th | 4 | | anniversary, and we congratulate brothers Neil, David, and | 5 | | Dale Clayton on continuing their father's legacy and the | 6 | | family business; and be it further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That we wish Larry's House of Cakes continued | 8 | | success in the pursuit of its mission to bring consistent, | 9 | | delicious, freshly baked goods to the people of southern | 10 | | Illinois; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to Clayton family as an expression of our esteem and | 13 | | respect.
