| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
United | 4 | | States Army Staff Sergeant Tyler M. Martin of Littleton and | 5 | | Colchester, who passed away on July 12, 2011; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin was born on August 13, 1985, in | 7 | | Macomb; he graduated from Rushville High School in 2003; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin entered the United States Army in | 9 | | 2004 and subsequently served tours of duty in Iraq and | 10 | | Afghanistan; during his stint in the military, he traveled | 11 | | throughout much of the world, having visited 15 countries | 12 | | during his tenure; one of his travel highlights was enjoying | 13 | | dinner on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin was a member of the Industry | 15 | | Assembly of God Church; in his younger years, he was active in | 16 | | the Royal Rangers; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin was an alumnus of the Illinois | 18 | | High School Rodeo and competed in the National High School | 19 | | Rodeo in 2002 and 2003 in Bareback and Saddle Bronco; he also | 20 | | loved animals, repairing and driving anything with wheels and a | 21 | | motor, and making people smile; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin is survived by his parents, | 2 | | Donella (Nell) and Jurl Southerland and Mike and Marce | 3 | | McGovern; his grandparents; Don and Pat Martin, Jurl and Peggy | 4 | | Southerland, Patricia McGovern, and Don McGovern; his | 5 | | brothers, Dowell Southerland, Justin and Erica McGovern, Cody | 6 | | McGovern, and Dylan McGovern, his niece; Alexandria McGovern, | 7 | | and his many aunts and uncles; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | 11 | | United States Army Staff Sergeant Tyler M. Martin; and be it | 12 | | further
