| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class E3 | 4 |
| Devin Michel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of | 5 |
| Stockton, who was killed in the line of duty while serving in | 6 |
| the Zhari District, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, on October | 7 |
| 24, 2009; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on August 3, 1990, the son of Terry | 9 |
| and Rebecca (Broshous) Michel; he was a 2008 graduate of | 10 |
| Stockton High School, where he played football, basketball, | 11 |
| baseball, and was a member of the band; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, After graduation he enlisted in the United States | 13 |
| Army; he began basic training on June 14, 2008, stationed in | 14 |
| Fort Benning, Georgia; after basic he was stationed in Fort | 15 |
| Carson, Colorado, in the 4th Infantry; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, On October 3, 2008, he and Anika Entmeier were | 17 |
| married; on May 30, 2009, he was deployed on his first tour of | 18 |
| duty; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Devin enjoyed playing sports, his dog, Jade, and | 20 |
| playing drums; and

| WHEREAS, Private First Class Devin Michel is survived by | 2 |
| his wife, Anika (Entmeier) Michel; his parents, Terry and | 3 |
| Rebecca Michel; his sisters, Holly and Catey Michel; his | 4 |
| grandparents, Elmer and Lois Miller and Rod and Kathryn | 5 |
| Broshous; and his great-grandmother, Winnifred (Harold | 6 |
| Gallagher) Luke; therefore, be it
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 |
| his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of | 10 |
| United States Army PFC E3 Devin Michel; and be it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Devin Michel and his | 12 |
| willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the | 13 |
| ultimate sacrifice; and be it further | 14 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 |
| presented to the family of United States Army Private First | 16 |
| Class E3 Devin Michel as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
