| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of June Charlotte Robinson of Chicago, who | 4 | | passed away on March 7, 2017 at the age of 101; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to | 6 | | Era and Lawrence Robinson on July 16, 1915; she attended | 7 | | Phillips High school in Chicago where she pursued a passion for | 8 | | music and was part of a noted singing group that began at that | 9 | | school; her interest in science and caring for people inspired | 10 | | her to enter a Practical Nursing program at Michael Reese | 11 | | Hospital, where she was licensed; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson accepted employment with the | 13 | | Veterans Administration, first at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, | 14 | | and subsequently at the West Side VA, now known as Jesse Brown | 15 | | VA Medical Center, where she worked for over 30 years; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was truly a master seamstress, | 17 | | sewing and sometimes designing clothes for her children, Vera | 18 | | and Loretta; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was a member of St. John de la Salle | 20 | | parish
on Chicago's south side where she was once a member of | 21 | | the school board; she loved her many travels to the Holy Land |

| 1 | | of Egypt and to countries in Europe; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was preceded in death by her | 3 | | husband, John Ireland Meredith; her sister, Loretta; and her | 4 | | brother, John; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson is survived by her daughters, Vera | 6 | | Laverne Avery; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grand-children, and | 7 | | five great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | June Charlotte Robinson, and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 12 | | further | 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of June Robinson as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
