| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Gloria Evelyn (Parnham) Carroll of East | 4 |
| Peoria, who passed away on January 22, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Affectionately called "Sis" by her siblings and | 6 |
| friends, Gloria was born on April 4, 1913, in East Peoria, the | 7 |
| second daughter of Floyd and Ida Siebenthal Parnham; she | 8 |
| attended Oak Grove School in Groveland until she went to work | 9 |
| as a nanny; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, In 1932, she married Gene Carroll, the love of her | 11 |
| life for the next 58 years;
Mrs. Carroll helped her husband | 12 |
| launch Carroll Coal & Feed Co. in East Peoria in the late | 13 |
| 1940s; she served as office manager for the business until it | 14 |
| closed in the mid-1960s; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, When Lincoln School opened in East Peoria in the | 16 |
| early 1950s, she was active with its parent group; she also was | 17 |
| active in Democratic Party politics for many years, serving as | 18 |
| an election judge; she supported her husband in his career as | 19 |
| an elected official in East Peoria in the 1950s and 1960s; and | 20 |
| she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. | 21 |
| Monica's Church in East Peoria; and

| WHEREAS, Gloria Carroll was preceded in death by her | 2 |
| husband, Gene; her son, Jimmy; her daughter-in-law, Cathy; and | 3 |
| seven siblings; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, She is survived by her son, Larry; her two | 5 |
| granddaughters; and her great-grandson; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Gloria Carroll; and be | 9 |
| it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Gloria Carroll as a symbol of our | 12 |
| sincere sympathy.
