| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles | 4 | | Craig Mannschreck of St. Joseph, Missouri, who passed away on | 5 | | August 21, 2019; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was born in St. Joseph, Missouri | 7 | | to Charles and Arline Mannschreck on November 6, 1944; he | 8 | | graduated from Central High School in 1962, where he was | 9 | | president of his class for all four years and president of the | 10 | | National Honor Society; he was also tri-captain of the football | 11 | | team and an All-American football player; he graduated from | 12 | | Texas Christian University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts and | 13 | | was president of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity; he served in | 14 | | Vietnam as a United States Marine Corps aviator, flying attack | 15 | | helicopters; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was a pillar of the Saint | 17 | | Joseph, Missouri community; he served as president of the | 18 | | Mannschreck Book Store and on the AAA Board for the Midwest | 19 | | Region; he took great pride in running the chains at Central | 20 | | High School football games for 40 years; he was a pickle ball | 21 | | enthusiast; he was a deacon of Wyatt Park Christian Church, | 22 | | president of the board, and sang in the church choir; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In 2000, Craig Mannschreck became chief operating | 2 | | officer of Resource One in Springfield, Illinois; he quickly | 3 | | became an irreplaceable part of the Springfield community; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Springfield, Resource One became a household name | 5 | | for office furnishings; they supplied furniture for nine of the | 6 | | 11 state universities, many community colleges, both the House | 7 | | and Senate chambers at the
Capitol, the Attorney General's | 8 | | office, the Speaker of the House's office, legislative staff | 9 | | offices, the
Illinois EPA, three Illinois National Guard | 10 | | readiness centers, Lincoln's Challenge in Rantoul, numerous
| 11 | | city and county organizations, and lobbyist and association | 12 | | offices across the State; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was proud of the business | 14 | | relationships Resource One maintained with private businesses
| 15 | | in Springfield and across Illinois; from the mom-and-pop | 16 | | business to prominent Fortune 500
companies, he treated all | 17 | | with the same level of respect
and attention; in 2011, he was a | 18 | | co-recipient, along with his business partner Cindy Davis,
of | 19 | | the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Small Business | 20 | | Person of the Year award; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, For 18
years, Craig Mannschreck was a weekday | 22 | | fixture in downtown Springfield, as a business owner, landlord, | 23 | | resident, and merry
soul; he would stop in to talk to everyone |

bookshop owner to a bank president, treating everyone | 2 | | with the same level of respect and courtesy; he
never walked | 3 | | past a person on the street without asking them how they were; | 4 | | he was a humble man who will be most remembered for his good | 5 | | nature and concern for others; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was preceded in death by his | 7 | | parents; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck is survived by his wife, Judith; | 9 | | his sons, Chapman (Ashley) and Mitchell (Lauren); his brother, | 10 | | Dannen (Sandy); his sister, Sherrill Adams (Jerry); his | 11 | | grandchildren, Campbell, Colt, Henry, and Dalton; and many | 12 | | nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 14 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 15 | | we mourn the passing of Charles Craig Mannschreck and extend | 16 | | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who | 17 | | knew and loved him; and be it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Craig Mannschreck as an expression | 20 | | of our deepest sympathy.
