| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lillie | 4 | | Mae Sutherland of Chicago, who passed away on September 2, | 5 | | 2011; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, She was born on April 16, 1922 in Sunflower | 7 | | County, Mississippi to the late Marion Brown and Ionia (Morris) | 8 | | Brown Dotson; she moved to Chicago after attending high school | 9 | | for 3 years; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, In Chicago, she reconnected with Edmund | 11 | | Sutherland, who she had met years earlier and they were married | 12 | | on June 29, 1942; she joined with Bethel A.M.E. Church and | 13 | | became President of the Third Board of Stewardess; she worked | 14 | | as a maid on the Northside of Chicago and later with the | 15 | | Chicago Dynamic Coin Company; she retired from Stern | 16 | | Electronics later in life; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, She liked to work on quilts, puzzle books, watch | 18 | | her favorite Chicago sports team, or watch soap operas; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Lillie Mae Sutherland is survived by her | 20 | | grandchildren, Scott (Prinscilla) Alexander, Kim Sutherland, | 21 | | Dorita (Aaron) Carson, and Jerry (Lea) Roberts; her |

| 1 | | great-grandchildren, Quenton Davis, Akiya and Stephyn | 2 | | Alexander, Janelle, Candace, Cinque, and Czar Carson, and | 3 | | Jessica and Victor Roberts; her great-great-grandchildren; her | 4 | | special niece, Ruth Boyd; her sister/cousins, Lucy Richardson | 5 | | and Semarian Robinson; her Lake Vista Bible study group; her | 6 | | Bethel Church family; and a host of relatives and friends; | 7 | | therefore, be it
