| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Eleanore V. Reid of McHenry, who passed | 4 | | away on September 2, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid was born on July 10, 1923 in | 6 | | Chicago; her parents were Harry and Susan (Frett) Rankin; she | 7 | | married Edwin F. Reid, Jr. on May 7, 1942 at St. Patrick's | 8 | | Catholic Church in McHenry; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid graduated from McHenry High School | 10 | | with the Class of 1941 and served on the reunion committee | 11 | | every 5 years through its 65th reunion; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid served as a nurse's aide during | 13 | | World War II; she also worked in a defense factory in | 14 | | Woodstock; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid has been a member of St. Patrick's | 16 | | Church in McHenry since she was 8 years old and was a member of | 17 | | the St. Patrick's Ladies Guild; she was employed as a secretary | 18 | | at St. Patrick's Church for 25 years under Fathers Coakley, | 19 | | Pettit, Guzzardo, and McKitrick; she also served as PTA | 20 | | president and was a Cub Scout den mother; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid volunteered for numerous causes; | 2 | | she drove cancer patients to chemotherapy for 11 years, headed | 3 | | Red Cross drives for the City of McHenry, and served on the | 4 | | McHenry County Board for 7 years; she was a member of the | 5 | | American Legion Auxiliary No. 491 for 64 years, and was a past | 6 | | president and headed many committees; she was a member of | 7 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary No. 4600; she served | 8 | | as an instructor and chaperone for the Viscount Drum and Bugle | 9 | | Corps for 11 years; she also volunteered for Senior Services in | 10 | | McHenry as a receptionist and exercise instructor; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore loved to travel, and she traveled | 12 | | extensively in the United States, Greece, Ireland, England, | 13 | | Germany, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico; she also enjoyed | 14 | | Christmas, bowling, reading, golf, needlework, playing | 15 | | dominoes, having lunch with her sorority sisters, and spending | 16 | | time with her family and extended family; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid was preceded in death by her | 18 | | parents; her husband; her stepmother; her 6 sisters-in-law; and | 19 | | her 5 brothers-in-law; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Eleanore Reid is survived by her children, Edwin | 21 | | F. "Bud" (Vikee) Reid III, Bernadine (Michael) Mould, Charlene | 22 | | (Thomas) Reichert, Ronald Reid, Acceneth "Cindy" Bateman, and | 23 | | Noelle (Terry) Reid-Andrews; her son-in-law, Hugh Bateman; her |

(Mary Rose) Reid; her sisters-in-law, Lois Jungck, Dinah | 14 | | Keeley, and Anna Wimmer; and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, | 15 | | and friends; therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Eleanore V. Reid; and | 19 | | be it further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Eleanore Reid as an expression of | 22 | | our sympathy.
