| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the life of Sensei Fred | 4 | | Jordan, CEO of American Martial Arts Science Association, Inc.; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, As a young teen, Sensei Jordan began to learn | 7 | | martial arts for discipline, self-defense, and fitness; this | 8 | | helped him excel in activities outside of the martial arts; he | 9 | | soon became one of the youngest instructors of martial arts | 10 | | classes and became known for providing teachings that could | 11 | | enhance a person's outlook on life and promote individual | 12 | | success; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In 1994, Sensei Jordan enlisted in the United | 14 | | States Marine Corps and became a Marine Corps Martial Arts | 15 | | Instructor; he continued his studies in Thailand, South Korea, | 16 | | and Japan and received recognition as a Master Martial Artist; | 17 | | and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2003, Sensei Jordan founded the American | 19 | | Martial Arts Science Association, Inc., a national institute | 20 | | providing human development and health education through the | 21 | | science of martial arts; his success has led him to be | 22 | | recognized twice with Resolutions from the City of Chicago for |

| 1 | | providing outstanding leadership for social development and | 2 | | academic enhancement; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Sensei Jordan has pioneered over 300 program | 4 | | partnerships with schools and community organizations; his | 5 | | teachings have demonstrated a 97% improvement in student | 6 | | testing and 98% improvement in social behavior for more than | 7 | | 4,000 school age youth; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Sensei Jordan uses the practice of martial arts | 9 | | science to provide structure for health and human development | 10 | | in public and charter schools in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York | 11 | | City, Miami, and Houston; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 13 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 14 | | recognize the life of Sensei Fred Jordan and we thank him for | 15 | | his commitment to the betterment of his community; and be it | 16 | | further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to Sensei Jordan as an expression of our respect and | 19 | | esteem.
