| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Ethel Gay Viau, who passed away on | 4 | | September 18, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ethel Viau was born on November 19, 1937 in | 6 | | Escanaba, Michigan; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Ethel Viau earned her Bachelor of Science from | 8 | | Northern Michigan University in 1978; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, After graduation, Ethel Viau lived in Alexandria, | 10 | | Louisiana and began working as an art educator and a rape | 11 | | crisis center coordinator; in 1985, she moved to Waukegan and | 12 | | began working as a social worker for Catholic Charities and the | 13 | | Department of Children and Family Services; throughout her | 14 | | career, she made it her goal to provide children with the best | 15 | | living situation possible through her work and volunteer | 16 | | efforts; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ethel Viau enjoyed music and learned to play piano | 18 | | at a very young age; she also enjoyed fishing, camping, and | 19 | | walking nature trails; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Ethel Viau was preceded in death by her parents, |

| 1 | | Steven Grenfell and Ila Ehrenberg (Grenfell); her brother, | 2 | | Harry Schmidt; and her grandchild, Karl Norberg, Jr.; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Ethel Viau is survived by her children, Deborah | 4 | | (David) Dayton, Steven (Vicki) Viau, Nancy (Karl) Norberg, | 5 | | Donald (Jean) Viau, and Robert (Catherine) Viau; her 10 | 6 | | grandchildren; her 8 great-grandchildren, and her precious | 7 | | cat, Milo; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Ethel Gay Viau; and be | 11 | | it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Ethel Viau as an expression of our | 14 | | sympathy.
