| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Special Agent Michael Gale "Mike" | 4 | | Garbo of Sahuarita, Arizona, who was killed in the line of duty | 5 | | on October 4, 2021; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was born in Grayville to | 7 | | Carol Ann (Young) Garbo and Larry Garbo on February 10, 1970; | 8 | | he graduated from Grayville High School in 1988 and Eastern | 9 | | Illinois University; he served with the U.S. Army National | 10 | | Guard; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was inspired by his late | 12 | | father, an Illinois State Police captain, and pursued a career | 13 | | in law enforcement; he was a former police officer for the | 14 | | Metro Nashville Police Department; he was currently serving as | 15 | | a special agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) | 16 | | based in Tucson, Arizona, a position he held since 2005; with | 17 | | unmatched talent, knowledge, dignity, and bravery, he | 18 | | dedicated his life's work to combating drug traffickers, | 19 | | spanning from Kabul, Afghanistan to various locations across | 20 | | the United States; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was a dedicated father and | 22 | | husband who devoted his life to serving and caring for others; |

| 1 | | he enjoyed practicing Jiu Jitsu and martial arts, spending | 2 | | time with his family, and watching his daughter succeed in | 3 | | every aspect of her life; he will be greatly missed; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was preceded in death by his | 5 | | parents and his special grandmother, Betty Garbo; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo is survived by his wife, Vida | 7 | | Mary Garbo; his daughter, Alexis Garbo; his niece and | 8 | | goddaughter, Kennedy Valinevicius; his brother, Terry Garbo; | 9 | | and many other loved ones; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Special Agent Michael Gale "Mike" Garbo and extend our sincere | 13 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 14 | | him; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Special Agent Garbo as an | 17 | | expression of our deepest sympathy.
