| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lucille Vance Gregory Butler of Chicago, | 4 | | who passed away on April 20, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born on March 5, 1925 in Shorter, Alabama | 6 | | to the union of Willie and Lucille Vance; she attended the | 7 | | historic Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama for | 8 | | elementary school; she accepted Christ at an early age; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, She married Solomon Gregory in 1942 and he | 10 | | preceded her in death; she married Tom Butler in 1988 and he | 11 | | also preceded her in death; she moved to Chicago in 1954 and | 12 | | worked at various jobs, including Curtis' Candy, selling | 13 | | clothes, housekeeping, baby sitting, and retired from Central | 14 | | YMCA College; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, She was a faithful member of Beersheba Missionary | 16 | | Baptist Church, leading programs such as the annual Women's Day | 17 | | and the Old Landmark services; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husbands; her | 19 | | daughter, Marion; and her siblings, Willie Vance Jr., Phillip | 20 | | Vance, and Viola Vance Gregory; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Lucille Butler is survived by her daughters, | 2 | | Belinda Criss and Deloris (Lamont) Malcome; her son, Anthony | 3 | | (Rachel) Gregory Sr.; her brother, Reverend James Henry | 4 | | (Brenda) Vance; her sisters, Johnny Mae Cotton and Evelyn | 5 | | Burton; her aunt, Dorothy Sanders; her grandchildren, James, | 6 | | Curtis, Marion, Anthony Jr., Kenneth, and Stephen; her | 7 | | great-grandchildren, Naeemah, Montarius, Jada, Alijah, | 8 | | Jakayda, Lia, and Curtis Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, | 9 | | cousins, Godchildren, and friends; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 12 | | her family and friends, the passing of Lucille Butler; and be | 13 | | it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Lucille Butler as a symbol of our | 16 | | sincere sympathy.
