| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Lola Marie Newman on | 4 |
| Friday, February 17, 2006; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on December 31, 1952, in Chicago to | 6 |
| Lillie Denton and Willie Wardford; she attended Raymond | 7 |
| Elementary School, Stephen A. Douglas, and Wendell Phillips | 8 |
| High School; she married James W. Newman, and together they | 9 |
| were parents to two children, Julius and Sarai; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She was baptized at Cathedral Baptist Church, | 11 |
| where she was a dedicated member who taught Sunday school, | 12 |
| helped where needed, and brought family to the Lord; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, She was a dedicated employee of Cadaco/Rapid | 14 |
| Displays Company for over 30 years, where she was loved and | 15 |
| looked upon as the big sister or mama; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Lola Marie Newman has been deeply | 17 |
| felt by many, especially her husband, James Newman; her | 18 |
| children, Julius Newman and Sarai Newman; her grandchildren, | 19 |
| Christopher, Dijon, Jalen, and Deshae; her sisters, Vera | 20 |
| (Robert) Burkett, Mary (Henry) Williams, Gail Denton, and | 21 |
| Cheryl (Cecil) Lawrence; her aunts, Willie Lee Brazzle and Anna | 22 |
| Lee Ballard; her mother-in-law, Ethel Robinson; her | 23 |
| brothers-in-law, Alphonso and Eric; her sister-in-law, | 24 |
| Novella; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, | 25 |
| great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, | 26 |
| cousins, godchildren, close friends, and neighbors; therefore, | 27 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 29 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 30 |
| Lola Marie Newman, and we extend our sincere condolences to her |
