| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Avril Marie "Babe" Baker of Joliet, who | 4 | | passed away on February 4, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born on November 17, 1930, the daughter of | 6 | | the late Armstrong "Bud" and Hazel Hile; she graduated from St. | 7 | | Francis Academy; in 1953, she met Dick Baker, a United States | 8 | | Marine who had served in Korea; she and Dick were married at | 9 | | the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus Parish in Joliet on | 10 | | October 9, 1954; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, She was always happiest when in the presence of | 12 | | her family; for years, she and her husband assembled the Murphy | 13 | | Acres Munchkins for backyard Fourth of July and Labor Day | 14 | | celebrations; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, She helped rescue and serve countless abused and | 16 | | abandoned animals; she was one of the founding members of the | 17 | | Will County Humane Society, and served on its Board of | 18 | | Directors for more than forty years; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her son, Greg; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Avril Baker is survived by her beloved husband, |

| 1 | | Dick; their three devoted sons, Mark (Denise) Baker, Fr. Brad | 2 | | Baker, and Todd (Kim) Baker; their daughter-in-law, Beth Baker; | 3 | | her three grandchildren, Richard Baker, and Bryan and Brianna | 4 | | Baker; her sister, Marilyn (late Don) Stein; her brother, Larry | 5 | | (Evelyn) Hile; and she was a devoted aunt to many nephews and | 6 | | nieces; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 | | her family and friends, the passing of Avril Baker; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Avril Baker as a symbol of our | 13 | | sincere sympathy.
