| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Leo Louis Brianza of Sun Lakes, Arizona, | 4 | | formerly of Carlinville, who passed away on February 20, 2012; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was born October 10, 1922 in Maryville, the son | 7 | | of Valario "Tom" and Katrina Mary Bugni Brianza; he married | 8 | | Margie Eleanor Jones; she passed away in 1980; he later married | 9 | | Frances Brianza in 1981; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, He graduated from Carlinville High School and | 11 | | attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he | 12 | | played on the tennis team and participated in track, holding a | 13 | | longtime record in the discus; he served in World War II in the | 14 | | United States Navy, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign; | 15 | | and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, He was the owner of Brianza Clothing Store and L&M | 17 | | Vending; he was a sales representative for CISCO Steel, Prairie | 18 | | Grove Company, and Valley Steel; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of American Legion Post #554 and | 20 | | the Carlinville Park Board, serving as president and leading | 21 | | the building of the Carlinville Public Pool; he was a fast ball |

| 1 | | pitcher in church and men's leagues; and he enjoyed bowling and | 2 | | basketball, gardening, mushroom hunting, cooking, and wine | 3 | | making; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Leo Brianza is survived by his wife, Frances; his | 5 | | daughters, Terry and Sherry; his stepson, Thomas (Lori) Stiles; | 6 | | his stepdaughter, Janis (David) Mathis; and his | 7 | | step-grandchildren, Shannon (Christa) Stiles and Shawn (April) | 8 | | Stiles; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 11 | | his family and friends, the passing of Leo Brianza; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Leo Brianza as a symbol of our | 15 | | sincere sympathy.
