| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
former | 4 | | Illinois State Representative Wayne Gene Alstat, who passed | 5 | | away on November 16, 2019; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Alstat was born to William and Verena Alstat | 7 | | in Ora Township on February 22, 1934; he served in the U.S. | 8 | | Army during the Korean War and married Barbara Shields on
July | 9 | | 22, 1960; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Alstat had many successful careers, | 11 | | including working for
the Illinois Department of Agriculture | 12 | | and for the Illinois Department of
Corrections; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Alstat deeply valued his community; he served | 14 | | as the Township Highway Commissioner of Ora
Township, and later | 15 | | became only the second write-in candidate for his position in | 16 | | the history of Illinois
to win in the 82nd session of the House | 17 | | of Representatives; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, Rep. Alstat continued to work | 19 | | on his family farm with his
sons Bill and Alan; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Alstat was a kind and generous man; he was |

| 1 | | involved with the Jackson
County Farm Bureau, the American | 2 | | Legion, the Eagles, the Elks, and in his Lutheran faith; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Alstat was preceded in death by his son, Bill | 4 | | Alstat; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Alstat is survived by his wife, Barbara; his | 6 | | children, Yvonne Murray, Alan
Alstat, and Laurie Rendleman; | 7 | | seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister,
| 8 | | Carolyn Liss; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 10 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 11 | | we mourn the passing of former Illinois State Representative | 12 | | Wayne Gene
Alstat and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Rep. Alstat as
an expression of our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
