| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Marjorie K. Lutes of Woodstock, who | 4 | | passed away on June 5, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes was born in Huntington, Indiana on | 6 | | September 21, 1921 to Norman and Mary Thomson Karns; she | 7 | | graduated from South Whitley High School (South Whitley, | 8 | | Indiana) and completed several college courses and attended | 9 | | many Elderhostels; she married Clifford M. Lutes, Jr. on May | 10 | | 12, 1943 in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes served on the Board of Education | 12 | | for Woodstock Elementary District 72 for many years; she was | 13 | | President of the Board of Education when it was consolidated | 14 | | into Woodstock Community Unit School District 200; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes was a member of the First United | 16 | | Methodist Church in Woodstock for 65 years, where she was | 17 | | involved with the UMW and many other activities; she was | 18 | | instrumental in establishing Caring Callers; her hobbies | 19 | | included sewing, playing the organ, and spending time with her | 20 | | family; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes was preceded in death by her |

| 1 | | parents; her husband, Clifford; and her brother-in-law, Robert | 2 | | French; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes is survived by her 4 sons, David | 4 | | (Linda) Lutes, Gary (Cindi) Lutes, Gregory (Cheryl) Lutes, and | 5 | | Kent Lutes; her daughter, Gina (Thomas) Halvorsen; her 12 | 6 | | grandchildren; her 23 great-grandchildren; and her sister, | 7 | | Carolyn French and her family; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Marjorie K. Lutes, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Marjorie Lutes as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
