| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention | 3 | | (CDC) report vaccinations are one of the best ways to put an | 4 | | end to the serious effects of certain diseases; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The CDC's 2010 National Immunization Survey found | 6 | | an increase in vaccine usage for numerous vaccine-preventable | 7 | | diseases, including measles, mumps, rubella, rotavirus, | 8 | | pneumococcal disease, hepatitis A, and Haemophilus influenza | 9 | | type B; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The results from the National Immunization Survey | 11 | | also indicate that vaccine coverage rates against poliovirus, | 12 | | chickenpox, and the full series of hepatitis B remained stable | 13 | | at or above 90%; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization | 15 | | Practices reports that adolescents between 13 and 17 years of | 16 | | age routinely receive meningococcal conjugate, tetanus, | 17 | | diphtheria, and acellular pertussis vaccines; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Immunizing children and adolescents helps protect | 19 | | the health of our communities throughout the State of Illinois | 20 | | by slowing down or stopping disease outbreaks; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Women in Government Foundation, Inc. is a | 2 | | national, non-profit, non-partisan organization of female | 3 | | State legislators that provides leadership opportunities, | 4 | | networking expert forums, and educational resources to address | 5 | | and resolve complex public policy issues; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Women in Government Foundation has made it a | 7 | | major policy initiative to emphasize the importance of lifetime | 8 | | vaccinations to create a healthier population and save lives; | 9 | | therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 11 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 12 | | we encourage the continued use of vaccines in children, | 13 | | adolescents, and adults to ensure the safety and health of | 14 | | Illinoisans; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the Women in Government Foundation in recognition | 17 | | of their continued leadership on public health issues.
