| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Eugene "Gene" Claire Piersall of | 4 | | Colona, who passed away on December 29, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gene Piersall was born to Lawrence and Agnes | 6 | | (Osterberg) Piersall in Davenport, Iowa on October 19, 1931; | 7 | | he attended Davenport High School where he was the Iowa State | 8 | | Wrestling Champion for two years and was subsequently inducted | 9 | | into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall of Fame; he served in | 10 | | the U.S. Navy; he married Phyllis Nelson in Davenport on | 11 | | November 2, 1957, and she passed away in 1987; he married Mary | 12 | | Langworthy Gordon in Davenport on June 3, 1989; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gene Piersall was a member of IBEW Local 145 for | 14 | | 60 years and last worked at Kohler Electric; he also owned and | 15 | | operated Potteramics ceramics shop in East Moline; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Gene Piersall enjoyed fishing and boating; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Gene Piersall was preceded in death by his wife, | 18 | | Phyllis; his son, David Piersall; and his three sisters, | 19 | | Phyllis Geist, Joyce Shirley, and Shirley Colbert; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Gene Piersall is survived by his wife, Mary; his |

| 1 | | four children, Deanna (Timothy) Richardson, Sherri (Thomas) | 2 | | Smith, Keith Piersall, and Tialinda (Chad) Loucks; his eight | 3 | | grandchildren, Alicia Dollieslager, Bradley Richardson, Leita | 4 | | Richardson, Whitney Smith, Jonathan Clase, Tyler Smith, Anisha | 5 | | Vichare, Shaine Mier, Bryant Piersall, and Cassidy Piersall; | 6 | | his five great-grandchildren; his two stepchildren, Jerry | 7 | | Gordon and Kenneth (Courtney) Gordon; his five | 8 | | step-grandchildren, Taylor Gordon, Cameron Moline, Valerie | 9 | | Gordon, Halee Gordon, and Justin Gordon; and his brother, | 10 | | Edward Berger; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 13 | | Eugene "Gene" Claire Piersall and extend our sincere
| 14 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
| 15 | | him; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 17 | | presented to the family of Gene Piersall as an expression of
| 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
