| 1 | | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Illinois Route 128 is a State highway that runs
| 3 | | from Highway 29 near Shelbyville to Highway 40 near Altamont; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cowden Police Officer Jeremy Hubbard, of | 6 | | Effingham, was killed in the line of duty on
August, 10, 2010; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He graduated from Effingham High School in 1993 | 9 | | and joined the Cowden Police Department in 2007; he
completed | 10 | | his basic training with the Police Training Institute in | 11 | | Mattoon in 2008, and joined the Effingham County Sheriffs | 12 | | Department in 2010; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He received many commendations and was highly | 14 | | regarded by co-workers, community members, and the village | 15 | | administration; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Cowden Police Officer Jeremy Hubbard is
| 17 | | remembered by his wife, Trisha Hubbard; his sons, Dylan and | 18 | | Jordan; his sister, Julia Poulter; and a grateful community; | 19 | | and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, This fallen officer deserves to be remembered by

| 1 | | the State of Illinois for his service and sacrifice; therefore, | 2 | | be it
| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | 5 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that the portion of Illinois Route 128 | 6 | | through the village limits of Cowden
be renamed the Officer | 7 | | Jeremy Hubbard Memorial Highway; and be it further | 8 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| 9 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| 10 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| 11 | | giving notice of the name of the Officer Jeremy Hubbard | 12 | | Memorial Highway; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 14 | | presented to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the | 15 | | Policemen's Benevolent & Protective Association of Illinois, | 16 | | and the
family of Officer Jeremy Hubbard.
