| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rosebud | 4 | | "Rosie" Lynn Buford of Chicago, who passed away on January 14, | 5 | | 2020; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Buford was born the 12th of 16 children to | 7 | | Paul and Louise Buford on July 16, 1952; Rosie was baptized | 8 | | Catholic and attended
St. Bernard Elementary School and Dunbar | 9 | | Vocational High School;
as a young girl, she was a cheerleader | 10 | | and member of the choir; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Buford was an important person to friends | 12 | | and family;
she was a devoted friend, sibling, mother, | 13 | | grandmother, and great-grandmother to 15 siblings, five | 14 | | children, 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, During high school, Rosie Buford was employed by | 16 | | Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital; after, she worked for her | 17 | | father at VHMI, as well as for Spiegel's, IIT, Portillo's, and | 18 | | AOBA Enterprise; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Buford greatly enjoyed spending time with | 20 | | her family and close friends; some
of her favorite things to do | 21 | | were dressing up, step dancing, and roller-skating; she was

| 1 | | known as one of the family's best cooks and beauticians; she | 2 | | was a special and unique individual who expressed a kindness | 3 | | that
will never be forgotten by those who met her; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Buford is preceded in death by her parents, | 5 | | Paul and Louise Buford, her soulmate, Donald "Ducky" Pittman; | 6 | | her son, Eric "Red" Buford; her grandson, Bobby "Nukey" | 7 | | Collins; her great-granddaughter, Angle Lynn Eggleston; her | 8 | | seven sisters; and her one brother; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Buford is survived by her four children, | 10 | | Louis, Leona, Janina (Pinkie), and Brian "Da-Da"; her 13 | 11 | | grandchildren, Vivian, Taryn, Marquez, Samarri, Nevaeh, | 12 | | Jordyn, Kennedi, Hyseal, Samera, Brooklynn, Keiosha, and | 13 | | Jaylen; her two great-grandchildren, Louis and Major; her seven | 14 | | siblings, Lucille, Luther, Myra, Diana (Ardrian), Cynthia, | 15 | | Gregory, and Harriette (Allyn); her God-children, Elijah, | 16 | | Nasir, Savanna, Chi'niya, Jamal, Da'niya, and Chaney Jr.; her | 17 | | nieces and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; and her | 18 | | long time friends, Yvette, Carla, Kathy, and Lorene; therefore, | 19 | | be it | 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 21 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 22 | | we mourn the passing of Rosebud "Rosie" Buford and extend our | 23 | | sincere condolences
to her family, friends, and all who knew |
