| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation | 4 |
| of Windsor Christian Church on the church's 150th anniversary; | 5 |
| and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Windsor Christian Church was established in 1857; | 7 |
| it is believed that J.D. Bruce, who founded the Town of Windsor | 8 |
| in 1856, founded the church in the fall of 1857, with early | 9 |
| services being performed in private homes, the town's train | 10 |
| depot, or possibly in the Windsor House, a hotel owned by Mr. | 11 |
| Bruce; on July 9, 1863, the land on which the church is | 12 |
| currently located was sold to church trustees Lee H. Keller, | 13 |
| Jonathan D. Bruce, J.W. York, Zimri Ferguson, and Jackson M. | 14 |
| Logan for $300; according to an account in the Windsor Gazette, | 15 |
| the church was built in 1864 and 1865 at a cost of $2,500; the | 16 |
| church's first elder was Anzil Gaddis and the first deacons | 17 |
| were J.D. Bruce and L.H. Keller; and

| WHEREAS, In 1879, a minister known as Elder Hite was called | 19 |
| to minister at Windsor Christian Church; since Elder Hite's | 20 |
| time, 30 ministers have been called to minister within the | 21 |
| church; the current minister is Richard Eident, who has been | 22 |
| with the congregation for 30 years; and

| WHEREAS, Windsor Christian Church's original building is | 2 |
| still in use by its congregation today; in June of 1923, over | 3 |
| $12,000 of improvements were added to the church; in August of | 4 |
| 1956, a new $53,000 addition was added; in July of 1963, the | 5 |
| church's members voted to construct an educational building on | 6 |
| to the main church building; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Windsor Christian Church has had over 1,500 | 8 |
| members throughout its 150 years and has a current membership | 9 |
| of 350; the church has also performed several revival meets, | 10 |
| which brought upwards of 50 new members into the church; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Today, Windsor Christian Church employs different | 12 |
| methods to communicate the same message to minister to the | 13 |
| needs of its congregation and the Town of Windsor; therefore, | 14 |
| be it
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 16 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 17 |
| congratulate the congregation of Windsor Christian Church on | 18 |
| the church's 150th anniversary and wish them continued success | 19 |
| and happiness in the future; and be it further
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 |
| presented to Windsor Christian Church minister Richard Eident | 22 |
| as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
