| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Norma Ann Showers of Alton, who passed | 4 | | away on July 15, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Norma Showers was born in Kinmundy to Mark E. and | 6 | | Laura A. (Doolen) Headley on January 6, 1929; she married | 7 | | Norman Showers in Long Beach, California on December 24, 1950; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Norma Showers was a special education school | 10 | | teacher for the Alton School District for over 25 years, | 11 | | retiring in 1991; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Norma Showers was a member of Calvary Baptist | 13 | | Church in Alton, where she implemented and taught an adult | 14 | | special needs Sunday school class; she also began and taught a | 15 | | Sunday school class at the Alton Mental Health Center; she | 16 | | served on the board for The William M. BeDell Achievement and | 17 | | Resource Center (ARC) for 30 years, and was a member of the | 18 | | Gideon Auxiliary for many years; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Norma Showers was preceded in death by her | 20 | | parents; her son, Timothy Michael "Timmy" Showers; and her | 21 | | sister, Mary Patricia "Pat" Meyer; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Norma Showers is survived by her husband of 66 | 2 | | years, Norman; her sons, Robert A. (Elizabeth Bauer) Showers | 3 | | and Mark E. (Jeanne) Showers; her daughters, Carole A. Showers | 4 | | and Rebecca S. (Richard) Luer; her grandchildren, Aimee (Shine) | 5 | | Lin, Shannon (Jaime) Davis, Katie (Michael) Walsh, Dr. | 6 | | Christopher A. Hesh (Dr. Hee Won Lee), Cade M. Bauer-Showers, | 7 | | and Laura G. Hesh; her great-grandchildren, Max and Elise Lin; | 8 | | her brother, Charles (Marilyn) Headley; her brother-in-law, | 9 | | William "Bill" Meyer; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, | 10 | | be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Norma Ann Showers, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Norma Showers as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
